In 2023, Reigate Priory Croquet Club is celebrating it’s 100 year anniversary!
To mark the occasion, a number of events have been planned throughout the year. Details are below, and this page will be updated throughout the year with more information and reports from the events when they happen.
Sunday 5th March – Centenary Commemoration Continuous Croquet
Club members will join in a relay team to play one long game of croquet from sunrise at 6.37 am all the way through to sunset. A demonstration of the longevity and resilience of the club and its members!
Monday 6th March Anniversary of inaugural meeting in 1923
Tuesday 2nd May Centenary Dinner in RPCC Pavilion
A reinstatement of the annual dinner not held since 2019
Thursday 25th May Centenary Lawn exchange with Bowls club
A representation of the transfer of the lawn from a bowling green to a croquet court 100 years ago. The bowls club will come back to play bowls on their “old” lawn in the morning changing to croquet after lunch. Bowls and croquet players will play in mixed teams.
Saturday 3rd June Centenary croquet exhibition matches
Top World class players will compete against each other in demonstrations of different forms of the croquet game
Saturday 17/18th June Centenary Plate
New internal club competition
Saturday 8th July Open Day (Bring a Friend)
Experienced and inexperienced croquet players will mingled on the lawn with those who have never played before. Anyone welcome to come along and have a try.
Saturday 2nd Sept Centenary invitation tournament
Local clubs from Surrey, Sutton and Sussex will be invited to come and join in a friendly one day competition
