With temperatures in the high twenties and a lawn as hard and fast as glass, RPCC entertained AELTC to eight games of GC level play doubles. For those of you wondering, “All England Lawn Tennis Club” a.k.a. Wimbledon, or to give it it’s fullest title The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

For several weeks either side of The Championships their croquet section are refugees banned from the many lawns at Wimbledon. Playing against Reigate is an annual event.

This year Sue, Alan, Duncan and JohnB took on visitors Roger Mackinnon, Julian Earle, Donald Macleod and Joanne McHugo. All the games were played in a light hearted, friendly, but nonetheless competitive, way.

Scores were close, 4 going to golden hoop but the result not so close. At the half way stage, as always, a splendid lunch was provided by RPCC (Reigate Priory Croquet Cook a.k.a Freda) and enjoyed by all. Back to the result, well… suffice it to say — Reigate lost one game in the morning and another one in the afternoon.
