Jamie Burch is Champion of Surrey!

By RPCC - 05th August 2025

Club member and local legend Jamie Burch claimed yet another trophy to add to his collection, by winning The Championship of Surrey at Surbiton, for the second time!

Having started off by being drawn against Reigate’s other entrant into the competition, Neil Coote, Jamie didn’t drop a game until the semi-final, where he beat fellow international Harry Fisher 2-1.

Conditions were outrageously tough, yet Jamie and his fellow pros made it seem somewhat easier, through excellent play.

Jamie’s been focussed a little more on Golf Croquet recently, but showed that he hasn’t forgotten his Association roots. Playing against one of the best players of all time, Robert Fulford, Jamie recovered from 1-0 down to win 3-1 in the final, through a mix of bold but sensible tactics and excellent hitting in and croquet strokes, despite the increasingly harsh weather – he won the 3rd game in just over 30 minutes!

Neil won more than half of his games in the plate, against some fierce competition, so well done to him as well!

Jamie’s family arrived just a few minutes after his final, victorious shot, to bask with him in his glory.

Congratulations to The Silver Burch!
