Golf – Handicap League

By RPCC - 09th November 2017

Last year we were finalists, losing in the play off between East and West to Preston Park.  This year, flushed with success, RPCC entered two teams – A & B – one placed in the East League and one in the West, but sadly the results were less successful.

RPCC A Team:  RPCC A Team (Lester, Judy, Joyce Carlisle and Steff) won 7 -2 against Guildford and Godalming, but sadly lost the matches against Preston, Compton and West Worthing (West Worthing’s lawns drain well so the players played on despite monsoon conditions!).  With thanks for valiant efforts to John K, Freda, John S, Lorna, Pam, Joyce, Steff and Lester

RPCC B Team:  The team found it tough in this league playing away against teams who regularly practice and compete on full sized lawn.  Despite this the squad gave a good account of themselves in all their games.  Michael B benefitted from experience gained playing in Australia during the winter to gain some extraordinary wins and our lowest handicapper Frank battled against a welter of extra turns to get some good results.  Unfortunately the team lost every match played, each by just one point!  Things could so easily have turned out differently!
