RPCC were drawn against Woking for 2017. Normally this fixture is arranged for the weekend so that members in full time work can play however this year Woking could only be available on selected weekdays.
The match was arranged for Tues 25th July and several of our lower handicap players were not available. Nonetheless by 3.30pm on a very crowded day at Woking (there was a junior tennis championship on at the same time) it was 3 games all and the final game had called time with all 4 clips on peg.
So sudden death – golden hoop time.
John B went on the attack, missed a 4yd roquet and then the rest was history. Woking won the match 4-3. It was a close thing and a lesson that maybe sometimes defending is a better way of winning.
