None of the team had visited the Ember lawn before our match on June 16, and it turned out to be a very pleasant venue with good facilities shared with a tennis and bowls club.
The home team were friendly and hospitable and we repaid their courtesy by allowing them to beat us 3-1.
Simon was our only success in the morning singles, but both afternoon matches were lost by just one point on time so it was a close run thing. Martin and Joyce were the doubles pairing both morning and afternoon.
