Annual Dinner – 2019

By - 10th March 2019

Members that did not attend the annual dinner on Friday 1st March missed out on a good time.

Held, as in recent years, at Betchworth Golf Club an excellent 3 course meal was served buffet/carvery style to 20 members with 12 guests, in an arrangement of four round tables, and Lorna Jenkins had created the attractive floral centre pieces.

Judging by the laughter emanating from the tables throughout the evening, Freda Knight’s table placings were spot on. Part of the amusement was when one table decided to rotate their seats between courses and then realised, full buffet meal in hand, that wine bottles and glasses not to mention cutlery had to be swapped as well. Another source of amusement was when the chairman in a short speech indicated, with a slip of the tongue, that next season AC players in the leagues would have to play off 6 (he meant base 6). Still, it got some peoples’ attention and checked if they were listening!. He also drew attention to the club’s Roll of Honour Book which covers RPCC’s history from 1923; originally created by David Connah and kept current by Lucy Beach. A show of hands indicated that only half the members present had ever looked at it… something to reflect on.

An annual dinner with some formality held in a relaxed way.
