The Southern Challenge is an annual Level Play Golf team event, hosted this year by Surbiton. In recent years, Reigate had accidentally won the second division, leading to a promotion to Division 1, leading to a couple of years of being pitted against some of the best players in the land – a great and informative experience, but with somewhat lower hopes for winning games!
Having since been demoted back down to the second division, we continued with our tried and tested approach of fielding different teams each day.
The Saturday team, Sue , JohnK, Frank and Michael made a good start winning 11 out of 15 games. The Sunday team, Doug, Judy, Sally and Bob took on the baton, and although Reigate finished 1st out of all the rounds, lost both play offs for final positions.
Merton won overall, and Reigate ended up a very respectable 4th.
The good news is we stay in 2nd division next year!
