Secretary’s Choice 2018
The Secretary’s choice this year was a fun Aussie Rules event with 15 members showing up to play. Most of the players played 5 games, all with different partners, with the top 4 scores counting towards their final score. The highest individual scorers played in the Final, in which Freda and Caroline beat John Knight and Claire. Caroline being unbeaten throughout the event, definitely deserved to… Read more →

Doug wins the Fuller Buckley
This year’s Fuller Buckley block stage had one particular stand-out event in that one block was won without any games being played! The finalists Doug and Andy, having both maintained 100% records in their respective blocks, had no need for such fortune. Andrew Gray won the toss and put Doug Dykes in, then missed his own tice from corner one.… Read more →

Michael wins the Francis Payne
This year the Francis Payne Cup was run on a draw and process knockout basis, which resulted in the last three standing having to play at least one person twice over. The final was played out between Michael (confusing name for the score sheet) Bye and Frank (I-don’t-do-jumps) Burch. A game of three halves. The first was close, 7-6 to… Read more →

For the first time since 2003, the Vulliamy Salver was lifted by somebody who isn’t Jamie Burch or Roger Tedstone! With the weather over the past few weeks having… Read more →

Chris Parker Wins The Jubilee
In a very close best of three, Chris Parker overcame Phil Davies to win this handicap golf event 7-6, 5-7, 7-5. With a very high standard shown by both players, all 3 games nearly went to the 50 minute time limit due to consistent clearing by both. Highlights included Chris running the first hoop of the first game with a… Read more →

Martin Peacock wins The Creed
Martin Peacock won a cagey game against Chris O’Byrne to lift the Creed Memorial Cup for the second year running. With neither player willing to give much away, the game was fairly bitty, but in the end Chris’ spurned chances and Martin’s 5.5 bisques proved too much, and he won more convincingly than the +8 scoreline would suggest, and was… Read more →

John & Lucy Win The Doubles
Lucy Beach and John Knight won the Alan Grant Candlesticks – our Handicap Association Doubles competition – through some excellent play by Lucy and judicious use of bisques. With Lucy’s first shot of the game, she hit a 20 yarder to take control, but it wasn’t long before Neil Coote got in, and started to make some real progress. A… Read more →
