RPCC v AELTC (Golf friendly)
With temperatures in the high twenties and a lawn as hard and fast as glass, RPCC entertained AELTC to eight games of GC level play doubles. For those of you wondering, “All England Lawn Tennis Club” a.k.a. Wimbledon, or to give it it’s fullest title The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. For several weeks either side of The… Read more →
PJ’s Pot – Guildford
One of our closest neighbours, Guildford & Godalming, host an annual 1 Day Golf Handicap tournament, named PJ’s Pot, and this year Reigate sent 3 players, comprising the Knights and Michael Bye. Michael got himself into a very close and exciting final, succumbing at the death on the golden hoop to G&G’s John Gosden. You can see a more detailed… Read more →
Roehampton v Reigate A – H League
Reigate A made a brilliant start to the SECF Golf Handicap League (East) – winning both of the morning doubles games and three out of the singles – so were able to enjoy an excellent lunch having already won the match! In the afternoon the team won the doubles and one of the singles to chalk up a 7-2 win! On… Read more →
Solution to a Dry Lawn
For the past few weeks, a combination of issues with the watering system and the beautiful weather has led to the lawn bearing the brunt, getting faster and “bobblier” with each passing day. While most members have adapted, through methods such as “No hitting the ball quite as hard”, the ever inventive Neil Coote checked the rule book, and came… Read more →

The Grass Roots Competition for Golf Croquet players with handicaps of 8 or above was held on Saturday 9th June. Winner of the morning session was Freda Knight who won all of her games in the group. A PB at PB?
For their first U-league match of the season, Team B started off rather well last Saturday at Purley Bury. The doubles pairing of Neil Coote and Alan Slade romped to a win, +26 including a posthumous rover peel by Neil, a PB (personal best), for them. They were so quick, in fact, that two of the afternoon singles games were started and… Read more →
S League v Ember
None of the team had visited the Ember lawn before our match on June 16, and it turned out to be a very pleasant venue with good facilities shared with a tennis and bowls club. The home team were friendly and hospitable and we repaid their courtesy by allowing them to beat us 3-1. Simon was our only success in… Read more →
S League v Cheam
Played on 31 May, this was Reigate’s first match of the new S League and the first competitive match held on our lawn for some time. We should have benefitted from home advantage but we picked Cheam as our opponents so some of their team were very familiar with our lawn. That is the excuse for being beaten by three games… Read more →
Golf Friendly v Woking
The initial doubles games began in difficult drizzly windy conditions. Both our couples struggled against low handicappers, two of whom were not best pleased to arrive late after google maps had directed them to the Hon Sec’s house in Merstham! Both games were lost 3-7. As the weather gradually improved so did our play, clearly showing the benefit of the… Read more →
